I think the Ocean Dub is complete, utter garbage. I'm going to come off as a douche on this one, but I can't help it. Granted, I love how Drummond gave Vegetto an original voice, but fused characters without dual voices just isn't the same.Īlso, I know they don't represent all of the fans, but why are a lot of the Ocean cast fans, especially on Youtube, so damn hostile to Funimation fans? That and I don't really like how Vegetto was voiced only by Drummond in that dub. It just ruins what would be an otherwise great experience. I shouldn't be able to hum "Super fighting robot! Mega Man!" nearly every episode. I don't care what anyone says about Shuki Levy's or Faulconer Production's scores, but the Mega Man cartoon music combined with Mega Man cartoon voice actors combined with Dragon Ball Z makes for such an awkward experience that it just cannot be taken seriously half the time (Specifically Terry Klassen and Scott McNeill, who voiced Cutman and Dr. Speaking of the music, that's one of the few problems specifically the International dub suffers from. I'd drop Funi's dub for life if Pioneer took over the series as a whole after doing the movies. Would've been nice to get an accurate translation, like the Pioneer dubs of movies 1, 2, and 3. Shame they recycled all of Funi's scripts, though. ![]() It was a very strange and nostalgic experience for me. Until Youtube and discovering the Ocean cast returned for Canada and UK's DBZ, I never thought I'd hear them voice their characters. But again, Scott McNeill and Brian Drummond are always a wonder to hear. However, in the series, especially from clips I've seen of the Android arc, he's terrible. Peter Kelamis in movies 1, 2, and 3 is my favorite English Goku. It's just a shame by the time the International dub kicks in the voice direction gets noticeably worse. ![]() As an American, I grew up with the Saban dub of DBZ until 1999 when Funimation took over, and, as many will agree, Scott McNeill and Brian Drummond were definitely the best English voices for Piccolo and Vegeta, respectively. ![]() I would love to see a DVD release of the International dub of DBZ and I'd buy it in a heartbeat despite having the majority of Funi's new releases.
